 The monograph presents Martin Benka, one of the founders of the modern Slovak painting art, as the first designer of the Slovak national myth. Benka developed his signature and original monumental style but also created small-size intimate cabinet paintings, drawings, graphic art (graphic designs for postal stamps, banknotes, diplomas), book designs and illustrations. There are about 900 reproductions - mostly not published till today - in the book. Resume in English language is after each chapter.
