My grandmother's (Irena Bajcar) marriage record in the Trinity Lutheran Church records in Chicago Illinois are written in Slovak. In the column titled "Rodiskoabydlisko s cislom domo" (As best I can read it), is written Modra Rrspatol Chicago. In the column titled "Meno Rodicastav" it has Irena Bajcar and and her parents as Tomasa and Zusanny Cvartnerovej. The current pastor of the church who speaks "some Slovak" provided the spelling. The C has the upside down "v" mark over it. He said the "ovej" ending means belonging to and is not part of the name. A gentleman who spoke Slovak quite well interpreted the spelling as "CRANTNEROIEJ".
It's been over a month of searching on every variation of the name I can imagine to try to find any link without any luck. (Ancestry, Genealogy, Ellis Island, Family Search, Steve Morris, and the various genealogy group sites) Can someone please help? |
