Pula Arena may be smaller than the Roman Colosseum, but it is better preserved. And it is not exactly small either, since it could accommodate 20,000 people.
Pula has a population of around 50,000 and is the largest city in the Croatian part of Istria. The city features both ancient monuments and the industrial skyline of shipyards rising right above the historic center.
Pula lies on the shore of the Adriatic Sea, so there is no shortage of anchors there.
Temple of Augustus, the second most important ancient monument in Pula, was built at the beginning of the Common Era.
The cranes of the shipyards tower above the streets of the old town.
Picturesque alleyways and old Venetian architecture are an integral part of Pula.
