Lud Oravy v minulosti (Second-hand Book)

Publication Lud Oravy v minulosti - The Orava-Region People is richly illustrated, text is in Slovak, summary in English, German, Russian and French languages.

In the past Orava constituted a characteristic region when taken from the point of view of people`s culture, characterized especially by costume and architecture. From the point of view of clothing in the prominent place put the mangle and the colour printing. Such workshops arose in the half of the 18th century and were extended in the 19th century. The first blue colour-printing shop was set up in Slanica in 1728.

This one did not suffice and there successively cropped up others in order to satisfy the market`s demand. In this way the need for blue printing the individual types of garments was satisfied. Thus, several types of dresses at Orava arose which we place in 11 groups.
