My grandfather Kornel Gereg was born 09-29-1894 in Pruske to John Gereg and Katherine Jursko. I am trying to trace his roots. I know that he came to the US in 1912 and lived most of his adult life in the Milwaukee Wi. area. Kornel married Agatha Kopsh

The town of Pruske's phone book is listing the surname GEREG and JURENKA. No surname JURSKO at all in SK. Surname KOPSO lists in Tuchyna's phone book. www.zoznamst.sk

The records for Pruske Parish are available through the LDS, #2009322 through #2009327, and go all the way back to 1671! You should be able to find Kornel Gereg's record easily and work your way back a number of generations. Watch out for some weird spell

Spent "lunch with the dead" at my local Family History Center and did some checking on your Geregs. Looks like Kornel's family might have used a few different surnames over the years. I did find a "Cornelis Mazanik" born in Pruske on 9/29/1894 to Joannes
