"A country of hills and valleys, natural beauties, mining traditions, and preserved historical, cultural and artistic heritage - this is the country around Roznava, a town with a rich and interesting history." This is written in an introduction of very nice done photography guidebook Roznava and its surroundings published by Slovak JES Agency publisher in 2012.
The first picture shows the altair painting of St. Anne Mettercia, patron-saint of German miners. This panel painting dates from 1513 and it is unique in Europe. The central focus is the group of figures of St. Anne, her daughter the Virgin Mary and the infant Jesus, but the background consists of a realistic depiction of the work of mediaval miners and smelters, together with a specific landscape settings in which the Roznava area can be clearly identified.
The book contains 309 color photos and a lot of tour tips tours in the area of Slovak Carst.
